PAG Travel Grants

Please note - One application will suffice for consideration for the following grants - Miksche/Gale/Scherago!!! The student travel grants are not subject to these qualifications.

All applicants must be traveling from outside the USA! Non-USA scientists who are in the US may NOT apply for these travel grants!

NOTE: The travel grant application rule and requirment that applications for travel come from scientists outside the USA does not apply to the Aquaculture Species Group Student and Postdoctoral Fellowship Bursaries.

Lastly, the names of awardees will be posted on the web site as soon as they are available. Do NOT keep sending emails to check whether or not you have received an award!

Scherago International Student Travel Awards:

Starting with the PAG-XIV meeting Scherago International started awarding four (4) student travel awards for $350 plus complimentarty registration to the PAG meeting. Applicants must submit a poster paper and one letter of recommendation from your department/office in order to be considered for this award. The application deadline is 2 November, 2010. To apply, please fill out the Scherago International Student Travel Grant Awards Application Form. For additional details, please contact Dr. Douglas Bigwood (intl.pag.grants@gmail.com). The award will be presented at the Wednesday evening dinner.

Neal A. Jorgensen Genome Travel Awards:

A total of $1,000 (reimbursable after the PAG meeting) for graduate student (not postdoc) travel to the PAG meeting is available. Interested graduate students should complete the online application using the link below. Please be sure to fill in all application information below AND have your major professor contact the relevant species coordinator (Bioinformatics, Cattle, Equine, Pig, Poultry, or Sheep) to indicate you are a graduate student and will attend the PAG meeting to present a poster. To apply, please fill out the Neal A. Jorgensen Genome Travel Awards Application Form. Deadline is the same as the PAG abstract submission deadline, 2 November 2010. Notification will be in November with award recognition at the banquet.


Michael D. Gale Travel Grant Award:

Starting with the PAG-XIII meeting Scherago International, in honor of one of the PAG meeting founders and leaders in the plant genome community is sponsoring the Michael D. Gale travel grant award. This award is for one travel grant award of $1000 to an international plant genome researcher who has NOT previously attended a PAG meeting. Applicants must submit a poster paper and one letter of recommendation from your department/office in order to be considered for this award. The application deadline is 2 November, 2010. Jerome P. Miksche Travel Grant Award:

Scherago International again is sponsoring the Jerome P. Miksche travel grant award. This award is for one travel grant award of $1000 to an international plant genome researcher who has NOT previously attended a PAG meeting. Applicants must submit a poster paper and one letter of recommendation from your department/office in order to be considered for this award. The application deadline is 2 November, 2010. Earl J. Scherago Travel Grant Award:

Starting with the PAG-X meeting Scherago International, in honor of passing in 2000 of the founder of their company, is sponsoring the Earl Scherago travel grant award. This award is for one travel grant award of $1000 to an international plant genome researcher who has NOT previously attended a PAG meeting. Applicants must submit a poster paper and one letter of recommendation from your department/office in order to be considered for this award. The application deadline is 2 November, 2010. Aquaculture Species Group Student and Postdoctoral Fellowship Bursaries:


Travel Award Applications: The Aquaculture Genomics Group of the NRSP-8 is pleased to announce the availability of a limited number of Travel Bursaries, of up to $1000, to support the attendance of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows at PAG to be held January 15-19, 2011. All graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who will submit an abstract to the Aquaculture workshop are eligible for consideration. Applicants should submit all the required items as listed below by September 15, 2010, through e-mail to Matt Rise (mrise@mun.ca): 1) the abstract to be submitted to PAG, including the title and authors; 2) a statement of the anticipated costs for the applicant to attend the PAG meeting, including information on additional resources (if any) that will be available to support their attendance; and 3) Travel award applicants MUST also arrange for their supervisor to send an e-mail to Matt Rise confirming their status as a graduate student or postdoctoral fellow. Award selections will be made and awardees will be notified soon after the September 1 2010 deadline. Awards will be paid after the meeting as a travel stipend.
Note: The deadline for submission of Travel Award Applications has been extended from September 1, 2010 to September 15, 2010.
